Unifying Topic: Reassurance for God's People
Isaiah 48

Lesson Summary: Through the words of Isaiah, God demonstrated that His people can move beyond their past mistakes. God is not a god who perpetually punishes His followers because of their failures. What He expects from His followers is that they will hear and obey His commands. As their Redeemer and Lord, He is willing and able to set the captives of corruption and bad practices free and to give them new life. New freedom given by God should be celebrated with praise and thanksgiving. The people of Israel were to "declare [God's salvation] with a shout of joy, proclaim it, send it forth to the end of the earth" (v. 20, NRSV). Let us do the same!

Unifying Topic: The Servant's Mission in the World
Isaiah 49:1-6

Lesson Summary: The Church must remember what Israel forgot: that God has chosen us for responsibility, not simply for favor and blessing. The message of salvation must be taken to every dark corner of the world. The light of Christ is able to shine in the darkest  of places. To preach Jesus to the enslaved hearts and minds of this world is to increase their hope, joy, and peace. To choose Christ is to choose light over darkness, good over evil, peace over chaos. Let us not be ashamed of the Gospel. Rather, let us recognize its power and share it with others.

Unifying Topic: Healed by His Bruises
Isaiah 53

Lesson Summary: Most people are willing to return a favor when given the opportunity. But the gift of Christ and the suffering He endured on our behalf is too great a favor for us to ever to return. We can never fully understand the sacrifice of One as innocent as Jesus, nor can we understand His willingness to become sin for us just to spare us the penalty of sin. We are to embrace, be thankful for, and share this truth with others.
